We packed up and headed 31.7 miles from Teakerne Arm up to Frederick Arm, a glacial inlet with water that is far too cold for swimming but has the beautiful blue/green glacial look to it. After dropping anchor we hopped in the dinghy at high tide and went to a river that flows into the end of Frederick Arm hoping we would have enough depth to get the dinghy up into the freshwater lake on the other side. Even at high tide we didn’t have enough clearance so we walked to the other end thinking it might be a nice place to bring the kayaks. We set a crab pot in 75 feet of water near the interface of the fresh and saltwater and managed eight crab the first haul, a soul (fish) in the second haul, eight more crabs in the third and seven more crabs in the last haul. I love fresh crab, so crab chowder, crab over rice with drawn butter and crab cakes are in our future.
